Chianti Classico - My Favorite September Wine Thu, Aug 31, 23 | wine Canonica a Cerreto This family owned winery has been a great source of Chianti for Table & Vine. They make just three wines, two are Chianti Classico. Badia a Coltibuono - “Abbey of the Good Harvest“ The structure at Badia a Coltibuono has been watching over winemaking for almost a thousand years, and the building was constructed long after wine was first made on the property. Grapeseeds and amphorae from the first century A.D. Roman period—evidence of wine production—have been found at an archaeological dig on the property. Today, the Badia a Coltibuono estate in the Chianti Classico commune of Gaiole in Chianti is led by the fifth generation of family members: Roberto Stucchi Prinetti and his siblings Emanuela and Paolo. There are 150 acres of vineyards on the property, along with another 50 acres of olive trees, all farmed organically. Rocca delle Macie Rocca delle Macìe was established in 1973, when Italo Zingarelli – producer of Ettore Scola’s “We All Loved Each Other So Much”, and also of the wildly popular series of films featuring comedy duo Bud Spencer and Terence Hill (including “They Call Me Trinity” and “Trinity Is Still My Name”) – decided to realize his lifelong dream by acquiring the “Le Macìe” estate – extending across 93 hectares (230 acres) in all, of which only two were under vine – in order to create a winery in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone.
